Traffic lights at Queen and Lee
Feb 3rd, 2010, 4:47pm

Hi,

Have any of you noticed how fast the traffic lights are at Queen and Lee when you are trying cross Queen at Lee?  I decided to time the green light going north and south.  The green light lasts for about 12 seconds.  The red light lasts about 1 minute.

I phoned 311 and asked them to look into the traffic lights.  I mentioned that a young person alone can barely get across the intersection crossing from north to south or vice versa.  If you are older with a cane or a mother with toddlers or strollers it is pretty impossible to do it in 12 seconds.  I said I thought it was an accident waiting to happen.  This was about two weeks ago.  I followed up my call and last week got a call from Sam to say that he had sent a work order to the company who checks out the lights.  To date nothing has been done.

I was wondering if we got a few people to call and complain (if you agree with me) that perhaps they would put a Emergency order in and get something done before someone gets hit.

Thanks very much.

Hi everyone - I see a lot of you read my post re short lights at Queen and Lee.  Just curious - has anyone checked it out and times the light and phoned 311 to report it?

Thanks

Hi Bowling,
hi everyone!
I just discovered this forum. How long has it been up?

I have checked out the lights and I agree, they are screwed up. What is 311? Is it open on sundays?

Hi - This site has been up since 2005.

The number 311 is an information number for any city problem that you may have.  Just have to dial it and ask for traffic light information.

Thanks

You could be right - I just checked out when the first post was entered and that was in 2005.  Squeezelbum may know as he was the moderator at the beginning also.

Hi - I was checking out Queen and Lee yesterday and the traffic lights are still fast crossing north/south etc. and slow east/west.  Could hardly make it across before orange light.

I wonder if anyone called and reported it - I know if they were inundunated with calls something might be done.

Would you please call 311 and report the traffic signals being inadequate for Lee and Queen.  Thanks very much.

Hi Broomhilda - (love your name).  Thank you for reporting but I guess you aren't as concerned as the rest of us - you can just fly across the street (lol).

Thanks again.

Just reading some old postings...

Like most members of a community, we expect out leaders to do everything.

the truth is that the most change gets done by making noise.

I hope this forum bounces back and some of us can get organized.

Harald. is missed, I suppose that one eventually loses interest in a community that you don't live in anymore.

But, where are OSB and UpperBeacher and Hammersmith? they gone for good?

Hey Bowling
no offence taken Smiley

I was just musing how you can get a bunch of people making phone calls to get results.

which is related...

but then I wondered about a few missing voices...
